A female lawyer, Gu Xingcan, infiltrates a criminal organization to avenge her father’s death. Betrayed and thrown into the sea, she is rescued by Chen Yao, a soul ferryman. Trapped in a cycle of revenge that repeatedly bends time, the two go from a contractual bond of protection to a love that transcends life and death. In the end, Gu Xingcan lets go of her obsession and brings her enemies to justice through the law, while the promise they made across life and death quietly lives on in another form.
